As businesses face increasing pressure to reduce their carbon footprint, addressing Scope 3 emissions has become a crucial challenge. Unlike Scope 1 and 2 emissions, which are linked to direct operations and energy consumption, Scope 3 emissions originate from the supply chain – including purchased goods, transportation, waste disposal, and business travel. These emissions often make up the largest portion of a company’s total carbon footprint, making their reduction essential for achieving meaningful sustainability goals.
At Fenn 1875, we understand the complexities of Scope 3 emissions and are committed to helping business reduce their Scope 3 emissions and develop a more sustainable supply chain. Our extensive range of eco-conscious workplace solutions – covering workwear, PPE, janitorial supplies, workplace supplies, business gifts, and print products – is designed to support businesses in their journey toward sustainability.
Eco-Friendly Product Choices
One of the most effective ways to cut Scope 3 emissions is by making sustainable procurement decisions. We enable your business to make responsible purchasing choices without compromising on quality or functionality by offering a selection of eco-friendly alternatives to traditional workplace supplies, including:
- Recyclable and biodegradable options across all categories.
- Ethically sourced workwear made from organic and recycled materials.
- Low impact PPE solutions, including reusable or recyclable options where possible.
By switching to greener products, businesses can significantly reduce waste and lower their carbon footprint, aiding towards sustainability targets with ease.
Reducing Carbon Footprint in Procurement
Our commitment to local sourcing and working with environmentally responsible manufacturers ensures a lower carbon footprint throughout the supply chain. By choosing our products, businesses can benefit from:
- Sourcing locally where possible to shorten transportation distances and cut down on emissions.
- Delivery impact reports to help customers measure and understand the carbon emissions associated with their orders.
- Partnering with manufacturers that hold sustainability certificates such as ISO 14001, B Corp certification, and more.
- Sustainable packaging solutions such as recyclable, biodegradable, plastic-free alternatives to reduce waste and single-use materials.
By choosing Fenn 1875, businesses benefit from a supply chain that is designed to minimise carbon emissions while maintaining efficiency and reliability.
Circular Economy & Waste Reduction Initiatives
We don’t just supply products to you; we provide waste reduction solutions to help businesses embrace a circular economy, such as:
- Recycling and take-back programmes for workwear, PPE, and office supplies.
- Durable and reusable alternatives to single-use products.
- Guidance on responsible disposal to ensure materials are recycled or repurposed efficiently.
These initiatives help businesses significantly reduce landfill waste, cut emissions, and create a more resource-efficient workplace.
Transparency and Supplier Sustainability Commitments
Sustainability isn’t just about choosing the right products – it’s about working with responsible suppliers. At Fenn 1875, we carefully choose our supply chain partners to ensure they align with our commitment to ethical and sustainable business practices.
What we expect from suppliers:
- Ethical sourcing and sustainable production methods that minimise environmental and social harm.
- Carbon footprint tracking and reduction strategies to actively reduce emissions.
- Third-party sustainability certifications, ensuring adherence to global environmental standards.
By working with suppliers that share our values, we create a more transparent, accountable, and sustainable supply chain for our customers.
Supporting Your ESG Goals and Compliance
With sustainability reporting becoming increasingly critical, businesses need data-driven insights to demonstrate progress in reducing emissions. We help companies track their Scope 3 reductions by providing:
- Data on emissions savings achieved through sustainable product choices and optimised deliveries.
- Sustainability audits to identify opportunities for improvement in procurement and waste management.
- ESG reporting support, ensuring compliance with sustainability regulations and corporate responsibility targets.
By partnering with us, businesses not only have the opportunity to reduce their carbon footprint but also showcase their sustainability efforts to stakeholders, investors, and customers.

At Fenn 1875, sustainability isn’t just a promise – it’s embedded in everything we do. We are proud to have achieved Weaver Gold Certification across all five pillars, marking a significant milestone in our sustainability journey and demonstrating our dedication to responsible business practices.

Climate change and rising consumer awareness have encouraged UK businesses to prioritise building their sustainability credentials. An overlooked category for demonstrating eco-consciousness lies in cleaning and janitorial products. This heavily used product category plays a critical role in day-to-day operations and provides a tangible way to commit to environmental credentials. Here are our top five reasons why prioritising sustainable cleaning solutions should be at the forefront of your company’s green strategy.
1. Enhance Brand Reputation and Attract Eco-Conscious Customers
Whether you like it or not, sustainability is now a mainstream expectation for consumers. In a 2023 survey, over half (54%) of consumers said that they would stop buying from a company if they were found to have been misleading in their sustainability claims.
By integrating eco-friendly janitorial products, your business can visibly align with these values, bolstering its image as an ethical and forward-thinking organisation. Companies like The Body Shop have already capitalised on such initiatives, embedding green practices into their core operations to great acclaim.
2. Reduce Environmental Impact
Traditional cleaning products are often laden with chemicals that wreak havoc on ecosystems when washed down drains. Opting for biodegradable, chemical-free alternatives significantly reduces water pollution and helps protect local wildlife.
Research shows that if every UK business switched to sustainable cleaning solutions, the cumulative reduction in harmful waste could reach thousands of tonnes annually. This not only safeguards the environment but also aids in meeting government regulations on waste management.
3. Improve Workplace Health and Safety
Sustainable cleaning products are not just good for the planet—they’re better for people too. Conventional cleaning chemicals can release volatile organic compounds (VOCs), which are known to aggravate respiratory conditions and cause skin irritations.
In contrast, eco-friendly products enhance indoor air quality, reducing the risk of health issues among employees and creating a safer, more comfortable workplace.
4. Cost Savings Over Time
While eco-friendly products may have a slightly higher upfront cost, their long-term savings are significant. Businesses have reported reduced spending on protective gear for handling hazardous substances and fewer expenses linked to chemical disposal.
Additionally, sustainable cleaning systems often come with innovations like refillable dispensers and concentrated solutions, which reduce waste and save money in the long run.
5. Future-Proof Your Business Against Regulatory Changes
The UK government has been ramping up its sustainability agenda, with stricter regulations on chemical use and waste management in the pipeline. Businesses that proactively adopt eco-friendly janitorial products will be ahead of the curve, avoiding potential fines and compliance costs.
By integrating sustainability into your cleaning practices now, you ensure that your business is resilient and prepared for future legislative shifts.
Incorporating sustainable cleaning products is a small yet powerful step toward achieving broader environmental goals. Beyond the tangible benefits, it signals to customers, employees, and stakeholders that your business is serious about its environmental responsibilities. Don’t wait for competitors to take the lead—get in touch today to explore how eco-friendly janitorial solutions can transform your operations.

Time is running out for UK businesses to prepare for the significant changes in waste management. New government legislation will soon make recycling mandatory for businesses, requiring changes to how waste is handled on-site. Here’s a breakdown of the key points and what you need to know:
Key Deadlines
March 31, 2025:
- Businesses with 10 or more employees must separate dry recyclables (plastic, glass, cans, paper, and card) into designated containers.
- Food waste must also be collected separately, regardless of how much is produced.
March 31, 2027:
- Smaller businesses with fewer than 10 employees have an additional two years to comply.
March 31, 2026:
- Local authorities are required to meet the recycling regulations for residential waste.
What’s Changing?
Currently, businesses are only required to pay for waste disposal through a trade waste service, and recycling is optional. The new rules, introduced by the Department for Environment, Food and Rural Affairs (Defra), will make it mandatory to recycle:
- Dry recyclables must be sorted and placed in dedicated bins.
- Food waste must be collected separately.
Why Act Now?
Even though smaller businesses have a later deadline, early preparation will save time and prevent last-minute compliance issues. Local councils are already working to expand infrastructure and streamline waste collection services.
How Fenn Can Help
Preparing for these changes doesn’t have to be overwhelming. Fenn offers tailored solutions to ensure your business is ready:
