Today’s buyers demand credible choices, real evidence, and trusted partners who can help them achieve their ESG goals, not empty marketing claims. Green cleaning has become a shared responsibility among businesses, suppliers, and facilities teams across every industry.

At Fenns, we’re seeing a clear shift in how organisations approach sustainable procurement. Businesses are looking for practical solutions that reduce environmental impact without disrupting operations or increasing costs. Here are some of the biggest changes shaping the future of sustainable cleaning…

Refillable Dosing Systems

Refillable dosing systems using concentrated chemicals offer one of the fastest and most effective wins in sustainable cleaning. A single 5-litre concentrate can replace hundreds of ready-to-use bottles, significantly reducing plastic waste, and that’s keeping hundreds of bottles out of landfill.

Compact Chemical Formats

Compact chemical formats minimise packaging while also reducing transportation impact. Shipping concentrates instead of ready-to-use products means less water is transported, fewer deliveries are required, and overall carbon emissions are lowered, supporting sustainability targets and operational efficiency.

Eco-Efficient Cleaning Machines

Modern cleaning equipment is becoming smarter and more energy efficient. Advances in technology and low-energy modes allow machines to deliver excellent cleaning performance while using less power. Businesses benefit from cleaner floors, lower energy consumption, and longer equipment lifecycles – all contributing to a more sustainable operation.

Recycled Content Consumables

Many recycled content consumables now deliver high performance with a much lower environmental impact. Fully traceable and even carbon neutral, these products give businesses confidence that their everyday consumables align with sustainability goals without compromising on quality or reliability.

How Fenns Can Help

If you’re exploring greener procurement options for 2026, Fenns would be happy to share what’s working best and help you identify the most effective solutions for your business. We can provide practical guidance on implementing these solutions smoothly, ensuring your sustainability goals are met without compromising.

Together, we can make your cleaning operations more sustainable.

Events and exhibitions are one of the most effective ways for businesses to connect with prospects face-to-face, generate leads, and strengthen brand visibility. However, without a clear event and exhibition management strategy, even high-profile trade shows can fail to deliver measurable results. From exhibition stand design to post-event follow-up, every element of your participation plays a role in your return on investment (ROI).

At Fenns, we help businesses maximise their event and exhibition spend through expert planning, seamless execution, and end-to-end support, ensuring every interaction and asset contributes to your commercial objectives.

Smart Exhibition Budget Planning Delivers Better ROI

Maximising ROI starts with spending wisely. Understanding where to invest and where to save ensures your trade show budget supports clear business goals rather than just aesthetics.

Whether it’s bespoke exhibition stands, printed marketing collateral, or branded merchandise, every element should be designed to generate leads, build credibility, and strengthen brand recognition. With careful event planning, your exhibition spend becomes a strategic investment rather than a cost.

Pre-Event and Post-Event Engagement Drives Results

ROI begins before the doors open. Targeted pre-event marketing attracts your ideal audience and drives footfall to your stand. Equally important is post-event follow-up with structured lead capture and management ensures conversations convert into measurable opportunities.

A well-defined trade show strategy transforms casual interactions into long-term business relationships, ensuring no prospect is missed after the event ends.

On-Stand Management Maximises Impact

Even the most impressive stand will underperform without the right on-stand strategy. Clear staff roles, proactive engagement with key prospects, and organised lead capture systems keep your team focused and productive throughout the event.

With strong on-stand management, every interaction counts, and your exhibition becomes a powerful lead generation platform.

Consistent Branding Across Every Touchpoint

From exhibition stand design and printed collateral to branded merchandise and staff uniforms, consistency reinforces professionalism and strengthens brand presence.

A cohesive approach ensures your business stands out at trade shows and corporate events, leaving a lasting impression with prospects and clients alike.

End-to-End Event and Exhibition Management Support

Managing an exhibition involves multiple moving parts - from logistics and installation to on-site coordination. Without expert support, these demands can distract your team from what matters most: building relationships and generating leads.

Fenns provides a complete service covering:

  • Event planning and logistics
  • Bespoke exhibition stands
  • Printed marketing collateral
  • Branded merchandise
  • Staff uniforms to enhance on-stand presence

Our offerings lets your team focus on meaningful conversations while we ensure everything behind the scenes runs seamlessly.

With the right event strategy, planning, and execution, your event can become a powerful tool for lead generation, brand growth, and long-term business success. Fenns partners with you to ensure every event delivers maximum impact and measurable ROI.

Every day, healthcare professionals give their time, energy, and compassion to caring for others - and they deserve workwear that supports them just as well.

Office products are no longer just a line item on a budget spreadsheet. As hybrid working, sustainability targets and employee experience continue to shape modern workplaces, procurement decisions are becoming more strategic. What businesses buy and who they buy from now plays a direct role in productivity, wellbeing and long-term value. Looking ahead, several clear priorities are arising for buyers.

Hybrid-First Solutions

Products that support hybrid working patterns are now essential. buyers are prioritising office products that perform consistently across offices, home workspaces and shared environments. Standardisation, portability and adaptability help organisations maintain consistency while supporting flexible ways of working.

Proven Sustainability

Sustainability claims alone are no longer enough. Buyers want clear evidence through recycled materials, responsible packaging, product durability and recognised certifications. In 2026, products that help reduce waste and support environmental goals without compromising performance will take priority.

Quality Over Volume

Rather than buying more, organisations are buying smarter. Higher-quality office products reduce replacement, minimise disruption and support productivity. Value, reliability and total cost of ownership are increasingly leading purchasing decisions, not just upfront price.

Employee Experience as a KPI

Office products play a growing role in employee wellbeing and engagement. Ergonomic, well-designed products contribute to comfort, focus and healthier working habits. As talent retention remains a priority, procurement teams are aligning purchasing decisions more closely with employee experience.

Data-Led Supplier Partnerships

Price still matters, but insight matters more. Buyers favour suppliers who provide consistency, usage insights and proactive recommendations. Data-led partnerships help organisations plan better, scale efficiently and make more informed purchasing decisions.

Looking Ahead

In 2026, office products will be firmly recognised as strategic enablers rather than basic essentials. Flexibility, sustainability, quality and employee experience will shape purchasing decisions, supported by data-driven partnerships that go beyond transactional supply.

Suppliers who can combine practical solutions with insight and accountability will be best placed to support modern workplaces as they continue to evolve.

Fenn 1875 is proud to share a different kind of achievement, one that goes beyond workplace solutions and reaches into the heart of our community. At Staffordshire County Councils Supporting Care Leavers into Employment Awards, Fenns received a Silver Quality Mark, recognising our commitment to helping young people transition from care into employment.

The event celebrated organisations across Staffordshire who are making a real difference for care leavers by creating pathways into work, skills development and opportunity. From local employers and training providers to community groups and social enterprises, the awards highlighted a shared ambition to ensure young care leavers have the confidence, support and practical tools they need.

Our Commitment to Care Leavers

As part of this ongoing commitment, Fenns has signed the Care Leavers Covenant, a national initiative that encourages organisations to offer additional support to young people transitioning out of care. Signing the covenant reflects our long-term intention to play an active role in improving employment outcomes and building confidence in those taking their first steps into the world of work.

We are currently working closely with local councils to create opportunities that are genuinely helpful, whether that involves work experience, interview practice, constructive feedback, or exploring future training and apprenticeship pathways. While some initiatives are still in progress, the foundations are firmly in place, and we are focused on growing our involvement in the months and years ahead.

A Shared Mission Across Staffordshire

The awards evening at Drayton Manor showcased the incredible work being carried out across the region. Fifteen winners were recognised across categories. Each organisation is contributing in its own way to creating a more inclusive and supportive employment landscape for care leavers.

To be counted among businesses taking active steps to make a difference is something we value deeply. The recognition reinforces our belief that employers of all sizes can play a vital role in shaping brighter futures.

Looking Ahead

Fenns remains committed to expanding the ways we support care leavers, ensuring every young person we work with feels welcomed, encouraged and supported on their journey into employment. We encourage other employers to explore the Care Leavers Covenant and discover how even small commitments can create meaningful impact.

Together, we can help build a future where care-experienced young people have every opportunity to succeed.

Keeping a workplace clean has always been important for employee health, creating a positive impression for visitors, and ensuring operations run smoothly. Today, we also need to think about how cleaning products affect the environment as many traditional products contain harsh chemicals, use single-use plastics, or come from energy-intensive production processes.

At Fenns, we’ve seen a growing interest in sustainable janitorial supplies that protect both people and the planet. Making the switch doesn’t mean compromising on hygiene or efficiency, it means smarter choices that deliver long-term benefits. Here’s what your business should know about eco-friendly cleaning.

Why Sustainable Cleaning Matter

Switching to greener cleaning products isn’t just about looking good on paper. It delivers real, measurable benefits:

  • Healthier Workplaces: Fewer harsh chemicals mean less risk of skin irritation, respiratory issues, and indoor air pollution.
  • Lower Environmental Impact: Biodegradable ingredients and recyclable packaging reduce waste and pollution.
  • Positive Brand Perception: More clients, partners, and employees are expecting businesses to act sustainably.
  • Cost-Effective Solutions: Concentrated formulas and refill systems often last longer, saving money over time.

What Makes Janitorial Supplies “Eco-Friendly”?

Not all products marketed as “green” are equal. Look for these key features when sourcing your janitorial supplies:

  • Biodegradable Formulas: Cleaning agents that break down naturally without harming waterways.
  • Reduced Packaging: Concentrates, refillable systems, and bulk options cut single-use plastics.
  • Non-Toxic Ingredients: Avoid chlorine, ammonia, phosphates, and other harmful chemicals.
  • Sustainable Materials: Mop heads, cloths, and brushes made from recycled or natural fibres.
  • Trusted Certifications: Labels like EU Ecolabel, Green Seal, or Cradle to Cradle signal genuine sustainability.

Practical Steps for Your Business

Transitioning to sustainable cleaning doesn’t have to be overwhelming. Start with small, manageable changes:

  1. Audit Your Cleaning Supplies: Identify products with high chemical content or excessive packaging.
  2. Start Small: Replace one item at a time, such as paper towels with recycled alternatives.
  3. Train Cleaning Teams: Show staff how to use concentrates, refills, and new systems correctly.
  4. Partner with Eco-Friendly Suppliers: Choose providers who prioritise sustainability.
  5. Communicate Your Efforts: Share your progress with employees and clients to build engagement and trust.

The Bigger Picture

Eco-friendly cleaning is about more than just swapping products; it’s about updating processes to adopt a more efficient and less damaging practice. By making responsible choices in janitorial supplies, businesses can reduce their environmental impact, protect employee wellbeing, and align with growing expectations.

How Fenns Can Help

At Fenns, we understand that finding the right balance between hygiene, efficiency, and sustainability can be challenging. With over 150 years of experience of supplying businesses, we work with trusted manufacturers to source eco-friendly janitorial products that meet your needs without compromising on quality.

Take this simple step and get in touch with us today to deliver long-term value for your people, your clients, and your planet!

Sustainability isn’t just shaping how businesses operate, it’s influencing where and how we work too. As organisations rethink their environmental impact, the workplace has become a key area for positive change.

From reducing energy use to minimising waste, every aspect of office design plays a part. Yet one element that’s often overlooked is furniture. The desks, chairs, and storage solutions we choose don’t just affect comfort and productivity, they also carry a significant environmental footprint.

At Fenns, we’ve seen a growing shift towards greener choices that blend style, durability, and responsibility. Here’s how sustainable furniture can transform your office and your impact.

Why Sustainable Furniture Matters

Traditional office furniture relies on materials and manufacturing processes that aren’t kind to the planet. From plastics and non-recyclable materials to chemically treated fabrics, many products are designed for short-term use and end up in landfill far too soon with around 670,000 tonnes of furniture being discarded in the UK each year.

Sustainable furniture challenges that mindset. It’s built to last, made from responsibly sourced materials, and designed with recyclability in mind. Choosing these pieces not only reduces waste and conserves resources but also sends a strong message about your company’s values and priorities.

Simply put, it’s a smarter investment for your business, your people, and the planet.

What Makes Office Furniture Sustainable?

When exploring eco-friendly alternatives, look for features and certifications that show genuine commitment to sustainability:

  • Recycled & Recyclable Materials – Desks made from reclaimed wood, chairs with recycled steel frames, or fabrics created from recycled plastics.
  • Durability & Longevity – High-quality furniture that stands the test of time, reducing the need for frequent replacements.
  • Low-VOC Finished – Paints, varnishes, and adhesives with low chemical emissions to improve indoor air quality.
  • Modular & Repairable Design – Furniture that can be reconfigured, repaired, or upgraded rather than replaced.
  • Recognised Certifications – Labels such as FSC®, Cradle to Cradle, or EU Ecolabel confirm responsible sourcing and ethical production.

Choosing pieces with these characteristics ensures your investment supports both environmental goals and long-term workplace performance.

Examples of Green Furniture Choices

Slight changes can have a significant impact. Consider integrating pieces such as:

  • Ergonomic chairs made with recycled mesh and replaceable components for extended use.
  • Sit/stand desks crafted from FSC-certified wood with energy-efficient lift mechanisms.
  • Modular storage systems that adapt as your team grows, reducing the need for additional materials.
  • Soft seating upholstered in natural or recycled fabrics like wool, hemp, or eco-certified textiles.

These choices not only reduce your office’s footprint but also creates a healthier, more inspiring environment for employees. Research by the World Green Building Council found that staff working in green-certified buildings report up to 30% fewer sickness-related absences, showing that sustainable design supports wellbeing as much as it supports the planet.

The Business Benefits of Going Green

Investing in sustainable furniture is a strategic decision as well as an environmental one. Businesses that prioritise sustainability often see benefits that extend further:

  • Healthier Workplaces – low-VOC and natural materials contribute to cleaner air and fewer toxins.
  • Enhanced Employee Wellbeing – staff feel proud working for an organisation that values environmental responsibility.
  • Positive Brand Perception – clients and partners increasingly seek out businesses that align with their sustainability values.
  • Long-Term Savings – durable, quality furniture reduces replacement costs and waste over time.

Taking the First Steps

Transitioning to a more sustainable office doesn’t need to happen overnight. Start small and slowly build momentum:

  • Replace worn-out items with eco-friendly alternatives.
  • Choose modular, adaptable pieces that evolve with your business.
  • Partner with recycling schemes to give old furniture a second life.

Every decision contributes to a more sustainable future and collectively, they make a real difference.

Save time, conserve water, and make cleaning smarter with the i-mop.

For decades, businesses have relied on the humble mop and bucket to keep floors clean. But in today’s fast-paced environment, traditional cleaning methods are no longer enough. The revolutionary i-mop is a cleaning tool designed to make cleaning faster, greener, and safer than ever before.

Why the i-mop Changes Everything

The i-mop isn’t just an adaptation of other products, it’s a compact, highly manoeuvrable machine that brings the speed and power of industrial cleaning to spaces where you’d normally rely on traditional methods. It’s twin counter-rotating brushes spin at 350 RPM, scrubbing away dirt and grime up to 90% more effectively than a mop and bucket.

It cleans and dried floors in under 30 seconds, eliminating slippery surfaces and downtime. Whether it’s in a school, office, hospital, or retail space, the i-mop tackles tough cleaning tasks up to 75% faster than traditional mopping.

A Sustainable Clean

Water is one of our most precious resources, and businesses are under increasing pressure to reduce consumption. The i-mop helps by using up to 75% less water than standard cleaning methods.

Where a traditional mop might waste litres of water, the i-mop’s efficient design only uses what’s necessary – around 15 litres for every 300m² cleaned. That means fewer refills, less downtime, and increased productivity.

Even better, the i-mop cleans effectively without the use of harsh chemicals. It’s mechanical scrubbing power and smart water usage allow you to achieve sparkling results with plain water alone or minimal eco-friendly detergents.

Saving You Time & Money

Time is money, specially in commercial cleaning. By cutting cleaning times by up to 75%, the i-mop delivers significant labour cost savings. In one comparison, businesses using the i-mop saved over £3,700 per year on labour and detergents, often covering the cost of the machine in under 12 months.

And that’s before you even factor in the reduced water, chemical, and energy use. The i-mop is a long-term investment in efficiency and sustainability.

Built for People, Designed for Performance

Beyond speed and savings, the i-mop is designed with people in mind. It’s lightweight, ergonomic design reduces strain on employees, making it easy to manoeuvre in tight spaces or around obstacles. The intuitive control panel means anyone can pick it up and start cleaning immediately.

Upgrade to an i-mop Today

The i-mop is the upgrade your business needs. It reimagines workplace cleaning by combining performance, safety, and sustainability in one compact machine that’s built for the modern world.

If your business is ready to cut waste, save water, and achieve a deeper, more efficient clean, it’s time to switch to the i-mop. Get in touch today to find out more.

At Fenn1875, we have been turning our sustainability strategy into action, and one of our biggest challenges has been general waste, a major contributor to our carbon footprint. But through teamwork, collaboration, and innovation, we've made real progress, including:

  • Working with our waste supplier to improve recycling.
  • Engaging our team to be more effective in waste disposal.
  • Partnering with suppliers who prioritise recycling materials.
  • Finding creative ways to reuse and recycle pacakaging.

The results speak for themselves with a 61% reduction in just under 3 years.

Artificial Intelligence (AI) isn’t just changing how we work – it’s transforming where we work too. From office layouts that adapt to employee behaviour to furniture that adjusts itself for comfort and wellbeing, AI is reshaping the future of workplace design in ways that were once only imaginable.

From being influenced by hybrid working, sustainability goals, and now, intelligent technology, at Fenns, we’ve witnessed firsthand how workplace design is evolving. Here’s how AI is set to redefine the modern workspace:

Smarter Workplace Planning

AI is redefining how we understand and optimise office space. By analysing data on occupancy, movement, and usage patterns, AI can suggest layouts that improve both efficiency and wellbeing. Predictive modelling even allows businesses to test “what if” scenarios, exploring how collaboration, energy use, or productivity might change under different layouts.

This data-driven insight empowers organisations to make informed design decisions that truly reflect how their people work.

Intelligent Furniture & Adaptive Spaces

The next generation of office furniture is going beyond comfort and aesthetics. AI-enabled desks and chairs could automatically adjust height, angle, and support to suit individual users, promoting better posture and movement throughout the day.

Smart lighting systems are also emerging, capable of tuning brightness and colour temperature to match the time of day, the task at hand, or even personal preference. The result is a workspace that continuously adapts to enhance comfort, productivity, and overall wellbeing.

Supporting Sustainability

Sustainability remains at the heart of modern workspace design, and AI is becoming a powerful ally in achieving greener goals. It can:

  • Optimise material use to minimise waste.
  • Track the carbon footprint of different furniture options in real time.
  • Support circular economy principles by predicting when and how items can be reused, refurbished, or recycled.

By integrating AI tools into design and procurement processes, businesses can make more sustainable choices without compromising on quality or functionality.

Enhancing the Employee Experience

AI also has the potential to create workplaces that are more responsive and personalised than ever before. Imagine:

  • Personalised climate control: HVAC systems that automatically adjust to individual comfort preferences.
  • Digital workplace assistants: AI managing meeting room bookings, visitor check-ins, and more.
  • Immersive collaboration: VR and AR tools enabling remote workers to collaborate in virtual spaces that feel as natural as being in the same room.
  • Smarter space use: AI sensors monitoring occupancy and flow to refine layouts, reduce energy consumption, and improve safety with touchless access systems.

These innovations work together to enhance the everyday employee experience, creating environments that are not only functional but inspiring.

How Fenns Can Help You

AI won’t replace human creativity in workplace design, but it will give designers, manufacturers, and businesses smarter tools to create spaces that work better for people and the planet.
